- How you're taxed
- Resident alien self-employed freelancer on an SRRV who lives in the Philippines with no definite plan to leave (resident alien under Revenue Regulations No. 2, section 5), taxed at the graduated rates on Philippine-source service income with the 40% optional standard deduction, plus SSS contributions at the cap. Receipts are above the PHP 3,000,000 threshold for the 8% option and for VAT at all three levels, so the freelancer is VAT-registered and the 3% percentage tax (Tax Code section 116, for non-VAT persons at or below PHP 3,000,000) does not apply; services to a business conducted outside the Philippines paid in acceptable foreign currency are zero-rated (section 108(B)(2) as amended by Republic Act No. 10963; Republic Acts No. 12023 and 12066 of 2024 did not change it). PhilHealth is not automatic for foreigners and would add at most PHP 60,000 a year, which leaves every band unchanged.
